We tour happy because the best way to learn about community centers is by visiting them and seeing what they offer in-person. At each facility we hear from the staff and leadership that operate them – recreation supervisors, parks & recreation directors or superintendents of park operations. We also make the tours fun by playing games like the beach ball relay race.
On the tour days, the bus leaves bright and early with breakfast burritos ready for you. With nine centers in two days you are sure to experience AFC – Another Fun Center!
Even though our “tent” is a sweet suite, you still get that camp flavor in the connections you make while exploring and learning together. After the Rec Camp activities of the day are over, we encourage you to go out to dinner at a local restaurant or sit by the fire at the hotel and tell a ghost story.
On the last day after the Planning Workshop we will have a short closing ceremony to reward you with a certificate of completion and your own Rec Camp enamel pin.
Remember to hydrate! Everyone gets a CamelBak water bottle in your team color and you can decorate it with stickers of your choice.
After the conference we follow up with bonus materials such as facility profile sheets, presentation slides, and more!
